On 18 September, TAFISA was honoured to contribute to the Conference on Sport, Development and Peace, hosted by the Foundation for Sport, Development and Peace, where our Senior Manager, Game Mothibi, joined a distinguished panel to discuss the future of Youth, Leadership, and Mentorship. The dialogue highlighted key challenges such as limited opportunities, unemployment, intergenerational gaps, and weak mentorship structures that continue to hinder youth leadership in Africa, while also pointing to opportunities where sport can be a powerful platform for resilience and inclusion, digital mentorship can connect young people across borders, and cross-sector partnerships can expand reach and impact. Importantly, the discussion reinforced the strong link between youth leadership, mentorship, and peace, showing how empowered young leaders foster responsibility, strengthen social cohesion, and contribute to more peaceful communities.
At TAFISA, we remain committed to empowering the next generation of leaders through sport, mentorship, and partnerships, advancing this vision through initiatives such as REACH, the Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway, our Certified Leadership Training, and the Mission 2030 webinars.
